Mr. Cabral has seventeen years experience working in lifesciences including four start-ups over the last nine years. Innurvation represents his third time working in the gastroenterology space. During this time, he has worked in medical devices, biotech, pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical services. Mr. Cabral brings not only extensive senior management experience, including having served as the President/CEO of one start-up, but also Board of Director experience.
Within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, Mr. Cabral has worked at GlaxoSmithKline, Serono and Centocor. During his tenure at Centocor, it was acquired by Johnson & Johnson (JNJ - NYSE) in 1999 for $10 billion. While at Centocor, Mr. Cabral was responsible for the launch of Remicade (infliximab) in the Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis markets. Remicade has become one of the great success stories in biotech history, surpassing $4 billion in sales this year.
Mr. Cabral served as President & CEO of the International Physicians Network (IPN), a start-up in physician and pharmaceutical services. Under his tenure revenue grew nearly 1000% and earnings grew over 2000%. IPN was sold to Amerisource Bergen Specialty Group (ABSG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Amerisource Bergen (ABC- NYSE). During this time, Mr. Cabral oversaw an aggressive growth plan that saw the number of physician networks grow from one to six. Additionally, Mr. Cabral offered strategic and tactical advice to over one dozen pharmaceutical/biotech companies in the process of new product launches, as well as similar advice to another twenty companies with products commercially available. As ranked by various trade publications, many of IPN 's partnered products will surpass $1 billion in sales this year.
Prior to joining Innurvation, Mr. Cabral served as the Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for BioniCare Medical Technologies, Inc. Based in Baltimore, MD, BioniCare is a start-up medical device company that received FDA clearance for marketing in September 2003 for the BioniCare Knee Device. The BioniCare Knee Device is the first and only non-drug, non-invasive treatment option for osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee for patients who are symptomatic despite NSAID therapy. Mr. Cabral was a member of the Board of Directors for BioniCare from August of 2002 through September 2006.
Mr. Cabral received his bachelor's degree in economics from Middlebury College and an MBA in finance and marketing from Boston University. Mr. Cabral joined the lifesciences industry after working in investments at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter for five years.
