Brian Jamieson, Ph.D.

Vice President of Research & Development

Brian Jamieson, Ph.D.

Dr. Jamieson has carried out and led research and development in the areas of MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) and compact low-power sensors for biomedical applications for eleven years. His particular expertise and interest is in the development of sensors for in-vivo medical applications. Jamieson has led the development of a microchip for blood cell sorting and implantable silicon electrodes for in-vivo neuronal stimulation and recording He has also worked on lab-on-a-chip implementations of capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. Jamieson joins Innurvation after five years as the MEMS Group Leader at NASA/Goddard Spaceflight Center and a year of private consulting to start-ups and research institutions interested in biosensors and medical MEMS applications. Jamieson has over a dozen peer-reviewed papers in the scientific literature. He has a B.S. in Physics from Yale University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. His Ph.D., also earned at the University of Michigan, was carried out under advisor Ken Wise, a founder of the field of MEMS.
